I’ve had my run-ins with booze, and there have been a few times I’ve stepped into a meeting. I found myself competing in my head … with my stories … twisting them to be worse than they were … wanting in some odd way to be worse off than the others.

I went to a lot, for a many years. It gave me something to do when I didn’t have much else going on and I got sucked in. I wound up in the same place as you though. I don’t believe in their assessment of the problem and I don’t believe in their prescription for the solution. Not quite sure why I hung in there as long as I did.

Good point. I was just thinking about ‘Fight Club’ and Edward Norton/Tyler Durden’s obsession with support groups for various non-existent illnesses.
